ABS is benefitting from the convergence of technologies and modern public needs with its SkyCable broadband and cable TV services. It is seen to increase subscribers from around 700,000 in 2015 to over 1 mn this year. SkyCable broadband surged by 40% in 1H16 for ABS making it one of its winning businesses. ABS’ O-Shopping channel is also in the black since last year. ABS is establishing and fostering other business outside of its traditional broadcasting business. Free TV is a good earnings base but a slow-growth business, and ABS’ direction to promote growth is through Kidzania, ABS-CBN Mobile, SkyCable and O-Shopping.
