Alliance Global (AGI) is finalizing its PHP65 bn 31-hectare Westside City casino resort by June 2017. AGI is seen to tap borrowings for the three-year development of Westside City, its second casino resort following the successful Resorts World Manila. Westside City is also the last Entertainment City development after Okada Manila. AGI has a big room for borrowings given its high liquidity and low leverage positions. The gaming earnings of the existing casino resorts are currently weak given the regional and global competition for high-rollers. It is seen that the final development plans will have non-gaming features. Original plans included a grand opera house which was the centerpiece of the casino resort. The promotion of non-gaming features is also part of AGI’s thrust in Resorts World Manila.
