Betting in Resorts World Manila for Fun and Investing in AGI for Serious Returns

August 2, 2010

We paid Resorts World Manila in Newport City a visit.  The five-star Marriott and six-star Maxims hotels, the casino and Republiq bar and club are all ingeniously interconnected to bring  traffic of guests to one another.

Marriott-Maxims Interconnection

In the middle of the week on a Wednesday afternoon, we observed the casino as almost half-full with players.  It is more hip than the casinos in the city of Manila near the bay.  Resorts World is spacious, well-lighted and there is a live band performing in the stage in the middle of the casino.  Most of the slot machines and some of the tables are  digital.  This gives a faster burn of bets for the casino.  Yes, the casino always wins.  Casinos only give players a 30% pay-out rate.

Republiq Bar and Club

In 2011, the three-star 1,000-room Remington and the four-star 540-room Hamilton hotels will open.  This will give Resorts World Manila a complete offering of rooms to all market segments in the metro.

AGI is a bargain stock trading below its estimated liquidation value of PHP6.44 per share.  At PHP5.75 per share last Friday, the stock offers at least a 12% upside before appreciating to its NAV per share of PHP10.03.  Betting in a casino in the long run makes you win PHP300 out of every PHP1,000 you bet.  Buy AGI instead.  ‘Better to invest than to place your bets.
